Reviewing design ideas with Unstapled Press

I've been brainstorming some ideas for designs for pages in my publication. I am wanting to use risograph printing, and although I do not want to illustrate the texts, I do want the book to be visual and for the images/design to work with the text. I've been thinking of the tone of the texts, the references to spatial layouts that are often included in the texts, and the list-like order and regularity that many of the texts take.

Here are a few of my initial ideas that I discussed with Unstapled Press when we met earlier today.

Shades of grey

I am continuing to print on pieces of nori, with my intention being to cover a whole sheet with a grid of printed nori. I have no set composition at this stage, but am focusing on individual elements which will later be shifted about in order to create a whole. 

The patterns on the nori vary from piece to piece, sometimes using a range of  shape of stamps on one sheet, and at other times using just one stamp.

In order to add a bit of variety to the prints, I am using a range of light / medium greys.

An artist led project by eight North East based artists who work across drawing, installation, painting and sculpture, who have all adopted systematic strategies in their practice. The artists in this exhibition all look at the opposition of order, intuition and the implication of the chance encounter. Artist include; Anne Vibeke Mou, James Hugonin, Alex Charrington, Richard Rigg, Rachael Clewlow, Sarah Bray, Peter J. Evans and Nick Kennedy.
