Lockdown - Day 429

Look North coverage of BALTIC Open Submission exhibition

BBC Look North covered the Open Submission exhibition that I am part of on the evening news last night. You can catch up on iplayer below until 7pm tonight.

Start at 16.00 minutes to get straight to the action. Unfortunately my work is not featured, (all the more reason to visit in person), but it gives a good insight into the breath of quality work on show from Northern artists.

Everything Will Be Alright at Cheeseburn

Had a wonderful visit to Cheeseburn Sculpture with Mum and Dad. Really great to see so many new additions to the artworks, and to see old favourites again. Lovely to catch up with the Cheeseburn gang too! Sad that I'm not well enough to be working as part of the Cheeseburn team, but good to go as a visitor and get more time to enjoy the artworks.

Enjoyed watching people responding to my work, and am pleased with how the change of context brings new meanings and interpretations to the work.

It was really special to listen to the work in the company of my amazing Mum who features in the work and who was the inspiration behind me creating the work in the first place. So grateful that she is in good health and able to share special moments like today.

Lockdown - Day 423

Goodbye Carliol House

It's been on the cards for a while now, but the time has officially come for The NewBridge Project to move from Carliol House and into its new home, The Shieldfield Centre.

Packing has been a time consuming and onerous task but today I put my last bag of studio rubbish in the bin and handed in my studio key. It seemed really strange to pack the van with all my belongings and wave goodbye to it until we get our lease in mid June.

Huge thanks to Lucien, Jon, Ruby and Rebecca (who have permission to be in our new premises) for unloading and depositing my studio belongings into my new space. I look forward to having a studio again with the luxuries of central heating, hot water, and toilets that are fully functional!
