Patterns and places of inspiration

On my walk back to the train station yesterday I came across a number of little shops that I could not resist popping into. I can get lots of inspiration from looking at patterns, designs, colours, forms, surfaces, fabrics and objects, and I also learn lots from shops in terms of ideas for ways to display things.

Weaving with screenprints

I am not happy with the screen prints as individual prints in themselves, and feel I need to work further with them, building up layers. 

Using wax crayon and ink pens, I added extra marks and tone to the screenprints. I then cut the paper into strips of equal width and lengths, and then weaved them together to form a sheet. I am pleased that this mixes things up in a relatively uncontrolled manner, therefore creating unexpected results.

Inspirational landscapes

I love getting recommendations from friends with artworks I should see, books I should read, films I should watch, places I should visit etc, and the sheer excellence at what they suggest shows how well they know me and how lucky I am to have such interesting friends.
